Ildefonso Colaço, Silasse Salomone | PORTA

During the Age of Discovery, the Portuguese people came to Japan via Africa and some lived also in Kyoto. This exhibition presents photographs of the former african colonies of Portugal, the Republic of Mozambique and the Republic of Cabo Verde. Mozambique is such a poor country that there are few photographers. Ildefonso Collasso focuses on young people living in the capital city, Maputo of Mozambique, which was devastated by civil war, and the theme of Sirasse Salomone is the two seas with memories of Aftica. Continent. One is Atlantic Ocean with Cabo Verde, where he stayed in the Artist-in-Residence Program, and the other is the Indian Ocean with Mozambique. The word Porta means "door" in Portuguese. Photography is also the door to the world and history. Their works bring us novidade (newness) and saudade (nostalgia)
